1. If a word ends with a vowel or -n/-s, the stress is on the second-to-last syllable
pa•ra, man•za•na, me•nos, co•no•ce•mos, vi•ven
2. If a word ends with a consonant other than -n/-s (or a group of consonants), the stress is on the last syllable
ha•ber, nor•mal, es•pa•ñol, ver•dad, ro•bots
3. If there’s an accent mark, the stress is on the syllable that has it
úl•ti•mo, ár•bol, ca•tás•tro•fe, ca•fé, tra•vés, bí•ceps
4. The suffix -mente doesn’t shift the accentuation. There’s secondary stress, though
